EEOC/Understanding Title VII

Few aspects of the law have had the sweeping impact on our society and the workplace as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Our workplace is becoming increasingly diverse in culture, age, gender and even the division of labor such as blue collar versus white collar, field versus staff. The laws that govern workplace diversity are best understood by developing the context of how and w hy they are applied to companies and their employees.

It is not enough to know the letter of the law; employees must understand what the law was intended to protect. It is management's job to ensure that this is understood and practiced. In this course you will learn to create an environment of compliance that increases productivity, maximizes employee retention and strengthens working relationships for your company.

Workplace Harassment

Harassment on the job is a significant problem, because any working persons can be victims. An unlawful, discriminatory practice, harassment exposes employers to costly, time-consuming litigation.

The key to eliminating workplace harassment is prevention. A sound approach includes establishing a policy that prohibits harassing behaviors, implementing a procedure for reporting and investigating complaints, educating managers about the legal ramifications of harassment, and firmly disciplining workers who violate company policy.
